There’s an app for that – Mitsubishi Announces Mobile Roadside Assistance

Just in time for travel during this Labor Day weekend and the upcoming winter driving season, Mitsubishi has introduced its new roadside assistance app to provide Mitsubishi owners with extended access and accelerated response should they ever encounter a mobile emergency or need trip information.

The new app, available for iPhone-compatible devices and included among the free benefits Mitusbishi dealers provide to new vehicle owners, puts drivers directly in touch with a roadside assistance agent who can quickly dispatch reliable and professional roadside assistance to the caller’s location. Service includes towing (to the nearest Mitsubishi retailer); lockout assistance; battery jump-starting; flat tire change; emergency gasoline delivery; trip routing and mapping, and more. The same app can be used by other family members using the vehicle or driving another Mitsubishi vehicle.

So, next time you lock yourself out of your car, don’t worry – there’s an app for that!

The app also enables users to access an estimated time of arrival for the dispatched tow service or service provider, as well as updates on the progress of the responding tow truck or service vehicle.

The app for iPhone also includes an emergency response button for urgent situations, and app users can also input relevant data about their Mitsubishi for more efficient service. Service through the app accelerates response by providing motorists with quick, one-touch access to emergency dispatchers as well as automatically transmitting data about the vehicle, vehicle location, and owner with the call, relying less on the motorist to communicate  verbal details, often under the duress of an emergency situation.

The app can be downloaded from the App Store on iTunes (http://www.itunes.com/appstore/).

Climbing the Mountain – the 2012 Pikes Peak Challenge

Starting at an elevation of 9,390 feet and finishing at 14,110 feet – nearly three miles above sea level – the challenging Pikes Peak International Hill Climb features a unique road course that is 12.42 miles in length with 156 (!) corners. First run in 1916, the event is the second oldest motor racing event in America after the Indianapolis 500.

The Mitsubishi i-MiEV Evolution is a purpose-built racing prototype designed specifically to conquer the undulating and difficult Pikes Peak race course. While key components including the electric motor(s), lithium-ion batteries and MCU are unchanged from those found in the 100% electric-powered 2012 Mitsubishi i-MiEV production model, the i-MiEV Evolution features a radically sculpted carbon-fiber body, a tube-frame chassis, a unique tri-motor configuration and an advanced form of Mitsubishi All-Wheel Control (AWC) all-wheel drive.

Handling driving duties of this revolutionary all-electric racing prototype is Japanese rally racing legend Hiroshi Masuoka. In addition to winning such prestigious events as the Italian Baja and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Rally, Masuoka scored back-to-back victories in the world-famous Dakar Rally in 2002 and 2003.

Joining the i-MiEV Evolution in the competition is a Mitsubishi i-MiEV race car that is identical to the street-legal 2012 Mitsubishi i-MiEV production car in every way, save for aerodynamically-enhanced front and rear bumper sections, performance shock absorbers and springs and the addition of competition safety equipment including a roll cage and safety harness. Everything else (including the tires) remains completely untouched from the road-going version of the company’s affordably-priced and eco-friendly electric vehicle.

Professional SCORE International off-road race-winner Beccy Gordon will be behind the wheel of the Mitsubishi i-MiEV race car as it makes its way up the mountain in this year’s edition of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. The talented American driver has also competed in the Baja 1000 and as a “guest” professional driver in the Long Beach Pro/Celebrity Race held during the annual Long Beach Grand Prix race weekend.

Whether or not you have mountains in your neighborhood, the i-MiEV is a great car, especially for those who live in an urban environment. Stop by and see if the i-MiEV fits in your lifestyle. We’ll be glad to test drive one with you!

The Mitsubishi Lancer – Great Car for Teen Drivers

The Mitsubishi Lancer has been a consistently great car for teens for the last several years. While teens like the sleek, sporty look, parents like the safety features.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety named the 2012 Lancer a Top Safety Pick because it received the highest rating of “Good” in front, side and rear tests, as well as roof strength tests.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has tested four versions of the Mitsubishi Lancer: sedan and hatchback models with two- and all-wheel drive. All four models get identical safety scores. They have an overall score of four stars, and also receive four stars in front and side crash tests and for rollover risk.

The 2012 Lancer’s standard safety features include a seven-airbag system with an airbag for the drivers’ knees, as well as anti-lock brakes with electronic brake-force distribution, brake assist and traction control. Hill start assist is standard only on the Ralliart.

So, if you are in the market for a great car for a teen driver, stop by our Marlow Heights location and test drive a 2012 Lancer. You won’t be disappointed and neither will your teen!
